7 Healthier Meals In NTU So Good You Wouldn't Even Realise They're Healthier

Contrary to popular belief, healthier food ain't always yucky and overpriced. We went around Pulau NTU on a hunt for cheap and good healthier eats - here are our top picks that will keep your stomachs and wallets happy!

1. Char Grilled Chicken

Seasoned with aromatic spices and grilled to a smoky finish, Canteen 2’s Western store serves up the ideal pre-workout meal if you’re going for your training at the nearby SRC. Served with broccoli, baby carrots and mashed potatoes, this hearty meal ensures you get the servings of protein, carbs and vegetables you need.
2. Steamed Chicken Rice

You can never go wrong with Singapore’s national dish - Chicken Rice. The classic ‘white’ steamed chicken is tender and soft, and is served on a bed of fluffy, flavourful rice. For those who want to grab your food to go, the chicken rice is one of the easiest food to takeaway here!
3. Shanghai Dumpling Noodles

Beyond their famous xiao long bao and dumplings in chilli oil, Canteen 1’s Chinese Cuisine stall also has the healthier option of Shanghai dumpling noodles. With its bouncy noodles and generously-filled dumplings, this is the perfect meal for a cold, rainy day.
4. Dosai

Craving for a quick bite in between classes? Opt for a more exotic snack the next time you’re at Koufu - skip the usual Roti Prata and go for its thin crispy counterpart Dosai. Dubbed a South Indian favourite, this savoury lightweight goodness comes served with 2 sauces at the side! (Psst... It's only available after 4pm!)
5. Steamed Chicken Set

Of the many stalls in Canteen 2, the Ayam Penyet stall is one of the most famous stalls, given its good reputation among students and staff alike. The star of this steamed chicken set is of course, the chicken. The tender and juicy meat is amazing with the fragrant rice and the generous drizzle of velvety, black sweet sauce - and this is all balanced with slices of cucumbers and cherry tomatoes.
6. Bibimbab

Kimchi, fresh vegetables, tender meat and a perfect sunny-side up lying atop pearly white rice - how can anyone resist that? Korean food has been highly popularized in Singapore since the influx of K-dramas and K-pop, but even if you aren’t a fan, Bibimbab (loosely translated to “mixed rice”) will definitely appeal to your taste buds. After a thorough mixing, the ingredients come together in perfect harmony, with layers and layers of flavour, making it one of the best healthier meals you could ever have on campus.
7. Green Peppers Sliced Pork

If you love your rice more than you love your noodles, give the green peppers sliced pork with steamed rice dish a try! As if the succulent slices of pork aren’t enough, the peppers spice it all up, making this wholesome dish so appetizing we will definitely be back for more.
